Binder clips generate a lot more pressure than a mother cat or a mate biting the back of the neck. Sit with one on your arm for a few and then tell it doesnt hurt.

That doesn't look like it could be good for the cat...I know that they're probably vets and everything, but I get so scared that that's gonna eventually kill the cat.

Ever pinched the skin on your elbow, it's the same thing with cats on their necks. It's how their mothers carry them.

Not in any way endorsing the method. But is it wrong that I immediately thought of the scene from "Young Frankenstein" (Frahnensteen) with the Doctor demonstrating voluntary/involuntary reflexes with subject Mr. Hilltop?

To all the animal rights people: cats are picked up behind the neck by their mothers when they're kittens, it's perfectly safe and doesn't hurt. My guess is that such a pinch invokes an instinctual response of nonmotion.

Peeps need to stop projecting themselves onto the cat. The skin on your arm does not have the same sensitivity as the skin on the back of a cat's neck.
