*Facepalm to all of them*.
*Facepalm to all of them*.
This is... Hilarious.
i have to agree that this site would be a lot funnier if maybe it was relevant to now, and not fifteen years ago.
"A customer called saying he was getting an error in Windows 95."
This one got me:
Customer: "I think I've broken my computer! There's a message across the screen that says: 'It is now safe to turn off your PC.' WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?!"
How could someone be so technologically incompetent?
this would be funnier if it wasn't all from the 90s
from last century
From the page: "# they can hack into your computer even when it's off and steal your electricity."
# Me: "Umm...I'm pretty sure that won't happen."
# Friend's Father: "It's all over the news. You mean to tell me they're wrong?"
# Me: "...I guess so.""
Gotta watch out for those "Internet Communists". They'll hack your word processor.
That being said, people need to understand that there is a difference between not knowing something but being openminded, and not knowing something because you refuse to take advice. My mother knows very little about the computer (for example, she has no idea how to open webpages in new tabs), but she admits it, and is very willing to learn.
I love all the comments on this site's stumbles, because people always defend the morons that the stories are about. It's not like they're about people that don't have a clue but are willing to learn, they're about people who act like they know everything about it when they don't or just try to figure things out themselves instead of taking the time to learn how to operate those crazy contraptions in front of them!
Sadly I know that these are most likely all true.
ever notice how there is more "Illegal Operation" things on here then anything else? Honestly, that has to be the most commonly misinterpreted error message I've ever heard of.
People know less than you!
Hey,lighten up on us Tecno-neophytes! We were raised by parents telling us watching colored T.V.'s could make us go blind. And many in our generation are show me folks. We like to kick the tires, thump the T.V. for better reception, rearrange the rabbit ears and then bitch at a real person when none of that works.
Reminds me of the time my mom thought that she could get rid of advertisements by marking the companies as Spam in her email.
Reading this site was a waste of my time. Sucks!!!
Last week, I had a customer throw away a Cisco router because it had ants on it...
Truth is stranger than fiction, guys.
most of these a just made up BS that has been passed around as urban legends for going on 30 years now.
Very funny ... especially the people who just will not listen to the technical person trying to explain.
