This article brought back some great memories of Japan for me. One thing that I would add to the list from my experience is Okinawa. It is different from the rest of Japan, possibly because there are 32 U.S. military bases there. Going from one of the other islands to Okinawa is like taking a step back in time. Okinawa is really retro, and a lot of fun. For the most part the people have a harder life than the inhabitants of the more advanced islands. However, Okinawans have the longest life span in the world. They have some kind of festival every week or two and they just look for a reason to rock and roll.
