I love it! I've been saying this all along.
I never understood why people should "respect their elders," either. I don't give respect based solely on the merit of how long someone has been sucking oxygen. I meet old idiots nearly everyday of my life. They don't deserve a cheaper lunch just because they've managed to stay alive this long.
I always thought age-based discounts were discriminatory. I see the purpose, but you might as well ask for an earnings statement and give tax-based prices. Obviously, it's just a marketing technique to target groups less likely to have spending money. But if that's perfectly acceptable, I wonder what people would say if businesses started offering discounts to blacks because they're less likely to have high incomes.
Price discrimination is not cool and such. Let the government increase benefits to seniors and provide a youth allowance, then. The market is an ineffective means of providing social benefits (not that gov does well most of the time. Procrastinating on studying for a political science final, which isn't even about this stuff.
I suppose it's different in America? Is it? But in Canada and other countries, old people do really well because the rest of society pays their health care bills, which are very, very high.
Who cares? This rocks.
You can tell this is from the United States because A) It is worded terribly and B) We have a knack for treating our senior citizens like shit. Why don't you check in with some senior citizens who have WORKED ALL OF THEIR LIVES and see how much they have ended up with to live on with inflation and rising food costs. You unbelievable brats.
Who wants to live to be 90 anyways?
Mean but true.
Although a lot of countries barely give any pension to seniors...
That's actually pretty funny.
tut tut, what is the world coming to,,,,in my day mumble mumble mumble
Sticking it to those baby boomers like the social security squandering pigs they are. LOL!
Why can't I leave the page? What the hell is wrong with this?
