Almost everyone seems to end up in the ocean. Unless, of course, you live in the Antarctic, North pole, northern Alaska, Hawaii, the speck of land opposite Hawaii in Africa, parts of Asia, and parts of South America.
This is one of those clever gimmick sites that everyone on the internet should use once, after wich you'll realise it's mostly useless and never use again.
the upside of the world map
Countless children (and adults) have wondered where they would end up if they started digging straight down (ignoring the material and methods). Now we have the answer!
I live in Britain, if I dug to the otherside of the world I'd end up in
Nearest nation seems to be New Zealand. Young 13andbored certainly seems taken with the place "Why did fate cause me to land up in a Calvinist city at the bottom of NZ that has utterly no charm and is hundreds of miles from anywhere?" Cheer up, your blog's not bad, doesn't South America look close?
Find out where you'd end up...
if you dig in southern south america youll end up in china :P
I'd land somewhere in the Pacific, east of New Zealand.
so many cartoons now ruined :( although it must be great for the 3 people living near the Montana/Canada border who would pop out on that island. :)
You mean I'd have to go to Argentina to dig to China? :(
I'd go to the Indian Ocean too.
So cool. Thank God I ended my dig when I was 9 years old, or I would have ended up in the Indian Ocean like Cole-RN. haaha
From the page: "Countless children (and adults) have wondered where they would end up if they started digging straight down (ignoring the material and methods). Now we have the answer! Most of the planet is covered in water, so most diggers will dig into some ocean or another. What little land there is is generally not opposite other land. Some of South America and Asia, for instance, are opposite each other, but most Americans will swim in the Indian Ocean.
I've seen this somewhere before. Good to know that if I dig straight down I'll end up in the Indian Ocean!!
I'd end up right in the middle of the Indian Ocean, guess I can forget that idea.
Thought I had already reviewed this. Fun answer to a basic question.
This is a good little gizmo. Remember when you where kids and thought that if you dug a whole to the other side of the earth, you would end up in china, well this tool actually lets you know. I end up in Spain, and I have ancestors there~~pretty cool aye
