As a kid I was never fond of Brussel Sprouts. The smell of them actually made me nauseated at the dinner table. I tried them again in my 20's, and the first few bites were o.k., but then they started tasting, well, like Brussel Sprouts again.
Then four years ago for Thanksgiving my cousin cooked up some for dinner. I was completely surprised by how delicious I thought the were. There was a nutty, almost smoky flavor to them that I found delectable. Since then I have cooked them a number of ways, but often steam them and splash a little red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar on top. They have become one of my favorite vegetables.
This recipe looks decadent. But it's from Cafe Fernando, so saying that is redundant...
