love your stumble !!!
Some of the biggest ripoffs around. What you need to do is be smart about how you spend your money. Being aware of how you get sucked in is half the battle.
Laser printers are a much better deal thank inkjets, but the manufacturers are beginning to narrow that gap.
To be fair, a majority of these items are simply a matter of paying for convenience when you're a captive audience (wine service, etc). A lot of the solution to these problems ends up being "don't eat out, don't travel, don't watch movies outside of your livingroom"
Actively managed mutual funds *are* for retards though.
From the page: Beyond the nine rip-offs mentioned by CNN, we've threw in three more rip-offs that we think fits the bill completely. What are some other rip-offs you can think of?
from the page "every time you dont tip you could be killing a baby."
Oh dear, i should stop reading the comments.
imo if you are willing to pay then it's not a ripoff, if you have to pay or there is no alternative then it could well be a ripoff, i.e if it costs £20 for a small pizza find an alternative then they will have to lower the price or quit.
however, a phone line from bt may cost £30 pcm + install fee ect but if i want a phone line they are the only company i can go to so they can charge me £78 install fee. Of course this does not include alternatives such as using mobile only, just an example.
Ah. Popcorn makes me sad. But it's always so much better at the theaters than one from the microwave. Sigh.
Couldnt disagree with any of these picks, though this list could go on and on too
Premium gasoline actually has the potential to harm your vehicle's engine if it isn't designed for it. As stated in the article, it's slower-burning, and can leave buildup in your cylinders from not having enough time to burn completely.
As for popcorn, I don't think you can beat the cinema variety, but damn that's a big markup! All of these are all too true.
And I buy brand name painkillers because I find them easier to swallow. By the time I've swallowed generic paracetamol, with it's evil pokey edges, half of it has melted onto my tongue and cheeks and I've gagged more times than I'd really care to.*
*I'd care to gag zero times
I'd venture to say that those ripped off by the all-you-can-eat buffets are not the same people that are ripped off by the health clubs. And vice-versa!
Oh how right this site is. I can especially relate to the student text books ergh easily paying $700+ a year on things I don't necessarily want to read D:
just one of.....
Beautiful. I love this site.
All of this is true, but for some of these items, if you were to complain about how overpriced they are and KEEP buying it, you are a fool. For example: movie popcorn. It is not hard to bring a bigger bag and take whatever food you want.
Anyways yeah, with the college textbooks thing- that bothers me. As if colleges aren't already a ripoff. What is particularly disturbing at my school is that if you are to venture into their lovely little book room, they will NOT miss a chance to shun you for merely BRINGING YOUR THINGS IN. Purse? Backpack? Binder? Books youve already paid for? Leave them outside. Where they can get stolen. Better your stuff than the schools, right?
Vodafone in NZ has a lot to answer for IMHO!
