online literature library
For those of us who live in states where we can't log into our University libraries for free, this is a darn decent resource. The interface, however, kinda sux unless you have a tablet PC -- thankfully, I do.
online library of books and journal articles in the humanities and social sciences, plus magazine and newspaper articles
Most people who would use what Questia has to offer only has to log in to their university's library - for free.
useful site for research
Useful site for all kinds of research, but never as much fun nor as productive as rummaging among the dusty shelves at a fine library, with a little help from Arthur Koestler's 'library angels' of course! :)
This site really helped me for a lot of my assignments and I also enjoyed reading from it for fun. I would not recommend it as your only source if you are writing something serious but it is great as a complementary and spur-of-the-moment source for reference. We cannot be in the library all the time. Unfortunately it does cost money but I would not hesitate to pay that small amount again if I were studying.
Great research site and it even produces APA citations for copy and paste into your paper - Very helpful!
Take a look-books and journals from all ower the world for free
Maybe I'm getting cranky in my approaching old age, but something about this site makes me recoil. I looked around in their research section and found that they actually do give access to some academic journals (a fairly small subsection of what is out there), which is a plus. They also format references in the major academic citation formats (e.g., APA, MLA). Having said all that, if I was a university or college student, I'd still prefer access to the reference sources that a good academic library (or library system) makes available over what Questia has to offer. I think that too many students are using the Internet as their only source of research for school assignments, and the majority of academic journals are still paper only. The only really good thing about this site is that it may help a bit in the prevention of deaths of perfectly good trees. On the other hand, I fear that it's paricipating in the "dumbing down" of yet another aspect of life. I find it significant that one of the selling features, as advertised in the graphics on the site, seems to be increased time for *really important* things, such as your social life (for the irony-impaired, I'm being sarcastic here).
google can only go so far use this and other online libraries
Even if you don't get an account, its a good way to find books to use for research.
