I wrote a list of all the reasons the record industry will never go away, but it turned out to be just 1) Money 2) Greed 3) More money. On the other hand, their business model is becoming increasingly obsolete. The internet is making independent and unrecognized artists more visible, while online transactions have made it easier to buy music. Artists that sell online can also adjust the price of their music to match how much people are willing to pay. No more paying the same price for an album by The Cheese Monkeys as The Beatles. Even iTunes hasn't figured out that bit yet, still charging the same price for every song.
tldr; We don't need to take down the RIAA. They're doing it all on their own.
