I'm a 19 year old, I can safely say that I was never someone who desired to be on the top. I never felt it was worth it, and have always felt it was just a contest of school authorities: Who's going to do exactly as I say?
Nearing graduation (from university), I'm scared as hell thinking that it would be mostly the same as in work. That I will be expected to do something and if I will, I will "succeed", and if I won't, I will "fail". I think, though, that this isn't specific to school and work. In general, it is society. It is more simple, convenient, easy for an individual's purpose to conform to the society's.
But am I just one of the students, one of the girls, one of the the citizens? Am I expected to be a student, a girl, and a citizen, and am I supposed to be judged based on how well I conform to these? Why do I have to be rewarded only when I do my homework, when I act gracefully, and when I follow the law?
