Hehehe I forgot all about these! One of my favorite every :D
I absolutely adore LotR -books, and to lesser extent the films too- and was slightly sceptical when I saw it. However, it is hilarious! It's not the most skilled parody, but it's certainly good for a very loud laugh.
As a creative exercise, sure, whatever. But don't put it out in public.
Just came here to complain about it being from the movie and not the book. Then I saw jljordan2's review and decided I'd just concur because she said it more eloquently than I had planned to.
Also, why do all the diaries start at Rivendale? There was plenty of adventuring before they met the elves... Especially if you consider the Tom Bombadil section.
You know, sometimes I find parodies funny, but this one was poorly done. If you're going to parody a great work of art, do it well, (And not off the movies). Wish I could find the parody of LOTR that I found several months ago that I actually thought was funny.
(Edit, The Legolas one was ok, so long as I imagined the movie and not the book. Just too much homosexuality to be funny in the rest. Sure, it's a bunch of guys, get over it. One or two homo diaries is ok, but not everyone is gay)
from the page:
Just opened Christmas pressie from Sauron. Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty ring!
Extremely funny diaries! Funny for Tolkien fans, even funnier if you've read Bridget Jones' Diary / seen the film with Renee Zellweger.
Wow, never thought I'd find this again.
Buh, I won't bother with sites that look like they have been made in the 90's.
Still brilliant after all these years.
Again-- wish I had the time to dedicate to the hilarity of this website. Alas, I am stuck writing lesson plans. joy.
Love these! They're very funny.
