I have always liked different methods of multiplying and this variation is fun- go on, try it, it takes no time. Even more fun are the comments of others who have reviewed this page- you'd swear memorizing multiplication is a moral imperative.

I'm pretty sure people who needed to know how to multiple, just memorized it. There are only 15 combinations, of which 5 are multiples are 10. It would be much easier (and faster) just to memorize the other 10.
