To the intellectually gifted minority out there that this applies to: Doesn't this explain a lot?
I think this is worth some reading for self-improvement.
"Hah, gifted schmifted," says Wernher von Braun
From the page: "Highly gifted people have a number of personality traits that set them apart, and that are not obviously connected to the traits of intelligence, IQ, or creativity that are most often used to define the category. "
Look up the terms "Pervasive Developmental Disorder" and "Aspergers". You'll gain more insight. With every plus there's also a minus. This guy is focusing on the pluses, which can be good. But there was a reason why his peers picked on him in school. That would be because of all of the minuses. I wish him the best. But for anyone who feels out of place in life, do some more research.
this can't be real.. lists of traits he found on the internet? maslows self actualisation requiring a certain level of intelligence? (defined by IQ, which hasn't been thought valid since the 1950s).. 95.9% of gifted people have an 'excellent sense of humour' - how could you possibly define or measure that? pretentious bollocks.
*punches the air* I knew it!
Also, what on earth is WRONG with you people? "Here is a list of traits that indicate I'm a superior life-form to all the fucking plebeians who made my life hell in middle school." Well they are, in technicality. And also, the title is "gifted people and their problems." "Gifted" does not mean "nerd". There is a big difference. "Nerds" are the people who get teased because they're socially awkward spend all their time on schoolwork and science. The public school definition of gifted is different from the real one. Gifted people have at the minimum enough brains to realize what they look like when they say that reading about smart people pisses them off. Gifted people aren't necessarily nerds - most are smarter than nerds and know how to get along with everyone else.
Long "symptom" lists invalidate themselves.
fun and long
