nice article, this kind of thing is the reason I was a Sociology major, but the footnotes have been removed. I believe that the Scientologists harass their critics and the pro-Israeli groups compile dossiers against their critics, but without sources to verify those statements, the authenticity of the argument is weakened.

Alternative: you're not afraid to express those thoughts out loud. Good luck to you if that's the case, but it is a possibility.

The article is interesting. The comments from the world-weary posers are not.

"Suppose in the future there is a movement to ban the color yellow. Proposals to paint anything yellow are denounced as "yellowist", as is anyone suspected of liking the color. People who like orange are tolerated but viewed with suspicion. Suppose you realize there is nothing wrong with yellow. If you go around saying this, you'll be denounced as a yellowist too, and you'll find yourself having a lot of arguments with anti-yellowists. If your aim in life is to rehabilitate the color yellow, that may be what you want. But if you're mostly interested in other questions, being labelled as a yellowist will just be a distraction. Argue with idiots, and you become an idiot."

Kinda interesting article, but I got bored halfway through when I realized there would be no list of examples.

Thought fashion. Individuality should be the new black (but never will be).

I mostly agree with the author. Though the author tends to ramble quite a bit.

Wrong. The author says, "Do you have any opinions that you would be reluctant to express in front of a group of your peers? If the answer is no, you might want to stop and think about that. If everything you believe is something you're supposed to believe, could that possibly be a coincidence? Odds are it isn't. Odds are you just think whatever you're told. The other alternative would be that you independently considered every question and came up with the exact same answers that are now considered acceptable." What about not caring what other people think? I'll say what I believe, neither intending nor avoiding offense.

This provocative opinion piece challenges you to reconsider all your politically correct assumptions. Are they universal truths or just the transient values of your culture? Reader beware! This one is not for the hypersensitive.

What you can't say
The statements that make people mad are the ones they worry might be believed. I suspect the statements that make people maddest are those they worry might be true.

Excellent read on things you cannot say and why you can't say it. Long, but plainly written: moves fast.
