From the page: "nine ideas that will hopefully get you to look at arithmetic as a game, one in which you can see patterns among numbers and pick then apply the right trick to quickly doing the calculation."

No idea why, I get a feeling it'll be pretty faster sticking to multiplying the way I've been doing all the way along than learning that... The methods are pretty logical, indeed. Discovering them yourself while multiplying won't be a problem, after all - and come on, they've allowed calculators on the higschool exams here...

Pretty useful little tricks...I've used several over the years and never really thought about them of course I was really good at math in middle school when I dreamed up those tricks. Kinda pisses me off that all of these weren't brought to my attention as a kid. Well, with what teachers are paid and how stupid the bureaucrats are in the states I guess its no big surprise.

Very cool, but I don't think that I'm going to impress any of my friends with this. Will probably just reinforce their judgment of me ...

Being able to perform arithmetic quickly and mentally can greatly boost your self-esteem, especially if you don't consider yourself to be very good at Math. And, getting comfortable with arithmetic might just motivate you to dive deeper into other things mathematical.
