I do not know the entire story, but what I can say is as a consumer, I am insulted that the record industry thinks I will pay the outrageous sum of $18 - $20 for a CD. And while I download the occasional song to sample new bands and even from tried and true bands "not in accordance with industry mandated methods of acquisition", I am buying more music than ever before because of the new levels of exposure to unknown music. Sorry, record behemoths, you guys need a new business model. I'm not buying your crap anymore.
From the page: "ted as they are, the music industry claims that they lose millions a year due to piracy, but is this really the case?"
