Really educational.. :D :D :D
I often put the Baroque station on Pandora.com when I'm at work. Great stuff... yet somehow when I stumbled on this, I initially read it as Barbecue Music.
Glorious Music. Enjoy.
from the page:
"Baroque music expresses order, the fundamental order of the universe. Yet it is always lively and tuneful. Music reflects the mood of the times, then as now as always. Follow the development of music through this brief outline, from the earliest times to the present day, with baroque music in historical context."
Go for broke and listen to baroque. Lovely site.
I love Baroque music and this site has so much information with sounds and pictures. Found it on Yliaster's page - thanks.
I've always thought that Vivaldi looked like a woman... Is it just me, or do other people think that too?
Lots of good info, but really bad site design.

Good website, wish they can be more generous on the download section, the sound quality is poor - 64k. anyone suggest a good place to download decent classic music? let me know.
I hate saying negative things about web sites that try to educate, especially in subjects that I think more general knowledge is needed. There are many problems with this website. On the web side, it is out and out ugly in a hostile manner. This may be a result of the owner's decision to eschew W3 standards and code for IE only. It is not a site that is friendly to the eyes. It does a serious injustice to music history by being too limited and provincal in its coverage. A specific example is seen on the page that deals with the Italian Baroque, which is given short shrift compared to, say, Germany, even though it is the place where the German Baroque comes from. More specifically, the author's knowledge of the Neapolitan conservatories is either sadly lacking in depth or he/she exhibits a traditional bias against the southern Italian kingdom. Still, a novice will have to start somewhere.
