I come from an immigrant community and in order for us to get to those positions of power requires huge institutional changes in immigration and education. The current system ain't doing nothing for us and voting is a privilege a majority of us do not have.
Shallow, misguided and condescending. The time spent to make this image could have spent on almost anything and it would have been an improvement.
The electoral system in the states is a broken piece of shit. I still vote, but I don't pretend that voting alone is going to enact any major change.
Which one? If voting changed anything they'd make it illegal.
In a lobbyist form of government voting only works for the fasc... ahem, Tea Party. Or for the slightly less bought-off Democratic party.
Yes, it seems like you need the rest of those for the wakeup to do the one correct. And, if voting made any difference, it would be illegal anyway.
Oh wait wait, almost, oh, nope, nope didn't make it. Not at all.
D.) Marching- it worked for MLK
Impossible to vote for "your people" when they are not properly represented in office. Find me a guy with the right credentials who isn't bought and sold by corporations.
This maybe unintentionally points out the big flaw with the two party system: if the action you want taken isn't on the menu, tough.
Vote for who? No one represents the interests I want to see advanced... That's not to say voting isn't good and I hope everyone does but that's not to say it's the only way to get involved and make a difference...
The spreading of ideas as to how we should act as a society (our temple to speak metaphorically) actually has much farther reaching political effects than would be possible through political institutions which have been founded on a temple of lust for property.
We have to change the institutions which govern us, they are no longer capable of taking humanity any further and we must abandon them and build anew our temple, this time it must be a temple of selflessness, towards our fellow man, and towards nature. We are all in this together at this point, and its time our institutions reflected that change in the reality of the human situation.
There's no guarantee that even if you do vote your people into positions of power they won't turn coat on you. Just look at Obama.
G: boatloads of cash.
