The people in charge actually have the cures for cancer but cancer is big business so they keep it just for them.

Problem is, they arn't including the fact drug companies and the FDA DON'T want to find a cure, due to the fact they gain more money with all the various types of management drugs. Also, without the money towards the war, wouldn't the deaths from terrorist attacks be much, much more?

Good comparison. And to everyone who is whining about the the presentation; get over yourself. It's perfectly clear what it means to anyone who knows how graphs work. Labeling axes and all of that is completely superfluous in the case of something so simple. Also, this is clearly two different graphs placed next to each other to make a point, I don't know why so many people are having trouble with that. I know your teachers told you how important all of that nit picky bollocks was in high school, but there is no set formula for graphs; it's just to give visual device for comparisons. Assuming the bars are scaled properly, (they appear to be, more or less) this isn't at all misleading or unclear

Yes, far too much money is being spent on terrorism, rather than on health. However, I wouldn't put too much faith in the Cancer Society as we already have cures for cancer which are barely being looked at due to not being profitable.

ahohiemer : You don't measure currency in people, so your point is invalid. The point the graph is making still stands, it's called emphasis - so everyone stop whining.

I suppose it never occurred to the graph's author that the large anti-terrorism budget is actually the reason that the terrorism-related death toll is so much lower than the cancer death toll.

Clearly deaths and money are on two separate scales, young padawans.

5.61 million and 1.26 trillion are no where near the same amount, yet the bars are the same size...

Clearly we need to spend more money killing terrorists and stop wasting it on curing cancer.
