Where is Ayn Rand?
Where is Ayn Rand?
People saying that lists like this are subjetive and therefore should not be made bother me. Of course they are subjective. The intent is clearly to interest the reader in these works and their historical significance. By the way, I didn't like this list.
Hmmm. These books are great if you are from the British Commonwealth or the United States. However, where are the modern greats which have and are influencing the rest of the world?
This is so Euro-centric and subjective. Where is "The Scarlet Letter" or "To Kill a Mockingbird"? This is a solid list of Important books to be sure--but not the Top 100 Most Influential.
To me, these lists of "Most blah blah blah of the something something" just screams douchery.
wheres harry potter thats what id like to know
Apparently people stopped writing influential books 38 years ago. Also, I hate such highly subjective lists.
'100 Most Influential Books Ever Written'
Homer's two epics on #3 :D
This cat is crazy. Not ONCE are the seminal works of the great philosopher Teddy "Hep Cat" Guiesel mentioned.
Terrible list. Works of huge scientific and cultural significance are not included (Avicenna's Canon of Medicine, Khwrizmi's Algebra or Goethe's Faust spring to mind). The list is very heavily biased towards Western European authors of the late 20th Century including an alarming number of crackpot social "scientists" and two-bit philosophers whose theories have either harmed the well-being of humanity or been utterly inconsequential. The fact that lightweight, nobodies like Noam Chomsky make it on the list while giants of intellectual achievement (modern, medieval and ancient alike) are snubbed angers me.
my , they shoul include my diary. haha, now im kidding. its worth the read. :-D
Like all lists, this is heavily weighted to European texts and those influencing modern European society. Still, all are worth a read.
