Robert Monroe established the Monroe Institute to run studies of people trained to leave their bodies to experience travel into different dimentions in their astral bodies. Monroe has authored several books
telling about his own experiences and of those from his Institute in Virginia.
I haven't ever experienced one. I'm probably trying to hard.
How to leave your body.
I have yet to trigger an OBE but it interests me
I am quite skeptical about out of body experiences, these can be mistaken for dreams.
Robert Monroe (1915-1995) was the pioneer in the investigation of out-of-body experiences (OBEs). Here, he briefly describes a technique for triggering out-of-body states.
Well if this gets out, it will all be normal.
But what about the great Black Hole feeling you can get while up there? And then you have to come back.Or is it a guide preventing you/me from going gone?
I find this totally fascinating.
Excellent site on a very interesting topic. For anyone who is interested in this topic, I'd recommend "Out of Body Experiences, how to have them and what to expect" by Robert Peterson, published by Hampton Roads Publishing Company Inc.
From the page: "In 1958, without any apparent cause, I began to float out of my physical body. It was not voluntary; I was not attempting any mental feats. It was not during sleep, so I couldn't dismiss it as simply a dream. I had full, conscious awareness of what was happening, which of course only made it worse. I assumed it was some sort of hallucination caused by something dangerous - a brain tumor, or impending mental illness. Or imminent death.
It occurred usually when I would lie down or relax for rest or preparatory to sleep - not every time but several times weekly. I would float up a few feet above my body before I became aware of what was happening. Terrified, I would struggle through the air and back into my physical body. Try as I might, I could not prevent it from recurring. (Monroe, 2-3)"
i remember reading his book years ago and the topic of OBE's still intrigue me.
