From my intuitive viewpoint, if they were really spaced out by the Fibonacci sequence, then for any four birds in a row -- a, b, c, d -- the distance between a and c should be equal to the distance between c and d. When you eyeball the distances, it seems that for pigeons 1 through 9, the distance from a to c is greater than c to d; for 9, 10, 11, and 12 the distances match; then the trend reverses and the distance from 10 to 12 is less than the distance from 12 to 13.

not even close actually, it's just an exponential growth of the distance between birds,

Fibonacci is 1, 1,2,3,5,8,13,21. not really exponential
