finally, something really important! I want more of these on the web

it makes me all the more eager to understand enough of the sciences needed to disregard it as speculative.

ok, does anyone understand this? i was lost at the 6th dimension =

they way that narrator explains everythin is just brilliant. It's not too complex yet not too childish either. +1

Yes

it makes sense cos it puts it in very simple terms, which i think is a very good idea

It is all just a concept, if the point is imaginary, having no size, width, length, depth then it cannot be anything physical nor anything real. It is imaginary! So building anything out of this imaginary thing is just that, imaginary. So there is no tenth, fourth, third dimension built out of a something. The line connecting two non-real points is itself non-real. It has to be made up of points, but these points have no dimension, ie. 0w x 0L x 0H, so a line containing 50 of them would be 0L. Who sang that song, nothing from nothing leaves nothing? Hume was well aware of this, as well as many modern day mathematicians and physicists. But all that so-called knowledge cannot be thrown into the trash, so they write books, teach classes, have seminars and yet leave out the one crucial detail at the start of a discussion. (What we are about to discuss is just a concept, nothing real can be made of it.) So in the end is it science or science fiction??

Regardless of the accuracy in relation to quantum physics and string theory, people are actually enjoying this video. Rather than taking a dump on the validity of the content in the video, the interest in thinking about the world beyond what we can see should be applauded. I've shown this to students in my math classes, and they all responded positively to it.

Something anyone watching this video should be aware of is that this has nothing, nothing to do with the dimensions physicists talk about when they say, for example "M-Theory requires 11 dimensions." These are spatial dimensions. The 4th dimension they mention is a temporal dimension, after that it degrades into mumbojumbo. In a spatial dimension one gains additional degrees of freedom. The same way their 2d flatlander doesn't see the path perpendicular to his page, we can't see a 4d path which is really perpendicular to space, and so on and so forth. It's a lot more mindbending than anything in this video.

As Albert Einstein put it "Don't worry if you can't visualize four dimensional spacetime. I can't do it either."
