try to draw these on autocad and do what he did. And calculate the are between these pieces. Its 1 unit2. in fact these pieces didnt fit already and there is 1 unit2 gap between them. so 64+1= 65 Thats the true

Surface area and perimeter don't change at the same rate. See "dieveryone's" explanation above.

woah what did i just see. um @mchalter that was really rude

You can cut the sides into varying lengths and experiment with all sorts of rectangles that will mostly have different areas. That's just how it works. If you have 24 feet of fence and make a 6x6 square (that's 4 sides of length 6, making 24), the area would be 36. But if you took that same 24 feet of fence and made a rectangular area that's 8x4 (thats two sides at 8, and two sides at 4 making 24) then you'd have an area of 32.

the area of the cuts add to 1 more square. silly

Ew. this is math... Chinese math. doesn't appreciate. someone had to much time on their hands.

Check the upper right hand corner of the 5 x 13 square. The orange piece sticks out by a little bit, but is a result of there being an uneven match up across the whole area equal to 1 square

Lol this is an optimization problem, it's like saying you have a certain amount of fence what dimensions do you build the fence in to maximize the area inside.

This is a well known mathematical fallacy. The gap in the center is hard to see, but it's stretched thin and wide enough to equal exactly one square.

## truthlighthouse

There is a hole in the center. It is not cut perfectly. Do a google search.

doesn't make sense. also not interesting enough to find out more.
