Identify if you really need that process starting up, when windows boots, with this handy reference site.
This Windows reference site identifies different Windows OS background services (daemons), browser helper DLL plug-ins & classes (CLSIDs), and startup executables indexed by name. Descriptions of each service indicate whether this service is critical, optional, or virus/adware/spyware.
Nice list of startup applications that may or may not be necessary.
From the page: "Startup Applications List" Another site listing start up applications to help you determine what you need to make your start up faster.
Great site!! Before removing a process, check the list to make sure it is not needed by your system. If it is not listed as safe to remove, leave it enabled.
Excellent resource for startup apps.
helps a lot if you don't know what program is what!

This has helped me a lot with finding out what all the programs are in my startup menu just go to Start -> Run -> msconfig -> Startup . then I can eliminate unwanted startup programs to make my pc run faster at startup. Plus, a good way to find malware and adware and spyware.

Ever wonder what the heck some of those programs are that are running in the background??
