We are big dog lovers here at StumbleUpon. Just look at this cute-as-can-be collage of our employees’ dogs!
They say August has the “dog days” of summer, so I’ve been trying to come up with some new fun things to do with my dogs lately. I take them on walks or to the park, but sometimes I just want to shake it up a little. The problem is my two dogs are as different as can be.
At a loss for things I could do with both of them, I decided to do what I always do when I’m in need of ideas: I Stumbled! If, like me, you’re looking for some new pup-friendly ideas, then just keep reading.
Teach an Old Dog New Tricks
I’m happy to report that both Nomi and Butters know how to “Sit” and “Stay.” However, they don’t know how to “Pick up the Laundry,” and I think it’s time they started helping out with the chores! I think it will be quite a while before they start flying airplanes though. We’ll leave that to Boo.
When it comes time to go outside, Nomi is always pulling on her leash and that does not make for a very fun walk. I’m going to try these techniques to see if I can get her to stop taking me for a walk.
Although Butters is great at walking, I could probably use his love of cheese to get him to do these fun little tricks. I think “Taking a Bow” would be a real crowd pleaser the next time we have people over.
The Pampered Pooch
Sometimes we all need to be spoiled and dogs are no exception. I’ll definitely be making this DIY Studded Doggie Collar for each of them. Butters is a pretty distinguished dog, so he might prefer this business casual collar. Suitable for a trip to the StumbleUpon office perhaps?
While I’m on a DIY kick, I may as well upgrade their beds using this awesome Vintage Suitcase Dog Bed tutorial.
Makes Even Dog Food Look Delicious
These tips for “Dining out with your Dog” got me thinking that maybe they’d enjoy a relaxing evening on a nearby patio. It’s a win-win. They can debut their fancy new collars and I can check out a new restaurant. If the both of them behave then I’ll reward them with these tasty Doggie Chickenpops when we get home.
Both of my pups love Peanut Butter. These snacks will satisfy their cravings without the albeit amusing hassle of seeing them try to lick the peanut butter off the roofs of their mouths.
I’m always thinking about how to relieve their boredom. But the next time I’m bored and they’re sleeping, I think we’ll try a little mischievous sleepy-time scent training.
A Healthy Pup is a Happy Pup
One of the least fun events in our house is bath time. I’ll use these time-saving tips to try to shorten the bath time so that perhaps they won’t hate it as much. Now that I think about it, I should probably give those dog toys a bath too!
Despite all their walks and outdoor play dates, my dogs always have a surplus of extra energy to burn off. This Stumble on extra exercises for them will be sure to burn them out and actually force me to exercise more as well!
I’ve been hearing a lot about dog food ingredients that are less than healthy. This article will help me make sure I’m giving my dogs the all of the nutrition they need.
Awwwwwww….. So Cute!
What would a blog post about dogs be without a couple cute photos? I promise to keep it brief!
They say that people start to look like their pets. I’m not sure if that’s true but these dogs do look a little familiar.
You can only have so many “cute dog in a blanket” pictures. Well, ok, you can never have too many of those. But I think I’ll step it up a notch and take some inspiration from these photos of Chini. Hmmm, where did I put that tiny toy car? Just kidding guys, don’t worry.
With all of these great new ideas, the only question is where to start. I now have lots of projects to fill up many days, and I couldn’t think of two better dogs to share those days with.
