Do you have a screenplay, stageplay, novel, short story, memoir or graphic novel saved on your computer right now? Have you always thought about being a professional writer but never thought you’d make it?

Here’s your chance to change the rest of your life.

Enter our “Get Discovered” Writing Contest to see what the StumbleUpon community and our panel of Hollywood talent agents and script doctors think of your work. If you win, you’ll get your work shown to a producer, playhouse or other appropriate company for the chance to see your work published, performed or produced! You may end up getting the phone call that amateur writer Isaac Marion got one day telling him that his short story “I Am a Zombie Filled with Love” – adored by Stumblers everywhere – had blockbuster potential.

Instructions:

1. Between now and August 7th, e-mail a word document or PDF of your work to contests@stumbleupon.com. You can also share your work as a Google doc to this address if you’d prefer. We’ll accept any of the following:

a. The first 20 pages of a film/television script or stageplay.
b. A short story of 20 pages or less.
c. The first 20 pages of a novel or novella.
d. The first 10 pages of a graphic novel or comic series.
e. Three essays from a collection of essays.
f. The first 20 pages of a memoir.
g. The first 20 pages of a non-fiction work.

Please also indicate your agreement to a release by filling out the information about the bottom of this form. You must be 18 years old or older and a U.S. citizen to enter.

2. Between August 7th and August 20th, Stumblers will Stumble the Likes at the “Get Discovered” StumbleUpon profile and vote by indicating a “Like” for their favorite submitted Works through the thumb-up icon on the StumbleBar. Invite your friends to vote for your work but remember that they have to be StumbleUpon users to qualify (and we’ll be on the lookout for any possible fraud or dishonest voting. Be nice, folks!)

3. Our panel of judges (called the Content Collective) will choose among the top ten works chosen by Stumblers. They’ll choose a winner by September 7th, 2012 and we’ll announce it here on our blog (and alert the winner, of course) and on our Twitter and Facebook pages. The winner will receive a “first-look” option opportunity.

Here’s a little bit about the amazing ladies in the Content Collective who will be judging the top 10 works and bringing the winning work to the big-wigs:

Cori Stern lives to discover potential in people and can best be described as a social entrepreneur, a documentary and narrative film producer and a talent scout. She has discovered numerous works that she later brought to production companies and publishers, including Isaac Marion’s short story I Am a Zombie Filled with Love, the inspiration behind the upcoming Warm Bodies film produced by Summit Entertainment that she found on StumbleUpon.com. She’s also the co-founder of The Strongheart Fellows Program, which discovers and accelerates exceptional young people from extremely challenging backgrounds and has been described as “r&d for brilliance in unlikely places.

Laurie Webb advises novelists and screenwriters on their manuscripts and readies them for publication and first look options as founder of her company A Diamond in the Rough Draft. Previously she was Vice President of Development for Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella’s Mirage Enterprises, where she contributed to the development of such films asThe Interpreter, Cold Mountain, Catch a Fire, Breaking and Entering, and Michael Clayton.

Brooke Ehrlich has successfully run her management company, Brooke Ehrlich Artist Management (BEAM), for the last six years where she specializes in the representation of writers, directors, novelists and on-camera talent. Brooke began her career in 1999 at the Sanford Gross Agency and 2002 she transitioned to the role of screenwriter’s agent at the Rabineau Wachter Sanford Literary Agency (now RWSG) representing a diverse group of writers. In 2006, Brooke struck out on her own and set up BEAM; where she quickly built up a client list of screenwriters, directors, producers, novelists and on-camera talent.
