Paid Discovery is all about connecting marketers with the right audience quickly and easily, and while we’re doing just that, we’ve often heard from customers that they’d like to see more ways to target their audiences on StumbleUpon. So today we’re introducing, Broad Interest Targeting, another option for targeting audiences according to their interests on Paid Discovery.

We’ve created a list of 22 topic bundles to reach groups of people that share similar interests and traits. Each broad interest consists of multiple topics that we think best represent the psychographic qualities of the grouping. Based largely on feedback from marketers like you, the preliminary list includes bundles such as Business Professionals, Retail-Beauty, Humor Seekers and Gaming. Skip the time-consuming process of selecting from over 500 interests and instead match your campaign to the pre-determined group that you’re trying to reach on StumbleUpon.

The addition of Broad Interest means that you now have three different Interest targeting options to choose from when creating a new PD campaign: Auto, Broad Interest and Precise Interest (formerly known as Manual Interest). By increasing the targeting options, we’re letting you select the process that most effectively meets the needs of each of your campaigns and giving you more control over the outcome of your experience on Paid Discovery.

The process of creating a new campaign has not changed significantly except that you can now minimize the time you spend choosing individual Interests. Select the type of Interest targeting from the Audience section of the campaign creation page. If you select Broad Interest, a series of 22 options will appear from which to choose. Once you’ve decided on your interests, continue with Demographics & Device targeting and finalize your Budget and Scheduling preferences. Your targeting criteria will be reflected in the Interests line item of the campaign creation page as well as in the campaign line item of the URL/Campaign dashboard for you to review at anytime.
